Dona Nobis Pacem

ILLUSTRATION
Read Dona Nobis Pacem
In this self-initiated series of illustration, I experimented an approach following the material and subject.
The story is set in the Mediterranean, about unexpected desires. So I chose naked greek statues as the subject.

The references are from online, photos of greek statues from different museums. As I portrayed them with charcoal, the quality of the greys and ambiguity in shapes reached a subtle mood which I thought quite suitable for the story. After the second drawing, I found some parts of the body are more effective in expression than others, so I emphasised those for the narrative purpose.
